Secure Networks
3
An advantage of WaveLAN networking products is that you can
secure network environments and data communications from
unauthorized access, by implementing one or more of the following
security measures:
■
Wired Equivalency Privacy (WEP) data encryption.
■
Closing WaveLAN networks to stations that have been
configured with a non-matching WaveLAN Network Name or
the value “ANY”.
■
Static MAC Address filtering.
NOTE:
WEP will be available with future releases. Consult the
WaveLAN website for the latest information about WEP.
The last two bullets are security measures that are typically
implemented at the WavePOINT-II access points by the LAN
Administrator of the WaveLAN IEEE Infrastructure.
For more information about these security measures, please
consult the WaveMANAGER IEEE User’s Guide that is shipped
with each WavePOINT-II access point.
