off  the 3rd gear  loose pinion with the synchro ring and the needle 

bearing cage.

the control  shaft

fitted,  remove the locking ring securing  the control 

shoft  to the primary  shaft and remove the control shaft  and spring. 

To Replace

the  input shaft

disconnected,  f i t  the spring 

(Q), 

then the input shoft 

(M) 

and secure with the c i r c l i p  

(J). 

2. 

F i t  the following onto the input shaft  i n  the order shown. 

(a) 

3rd gear  idler 

(P) 

together  with its needle bearing  cage smeared 

with transmission o i l .  

(b) 

Synchro ring 

(F). 

(c) 

(E)  ensuring that  the collar with a groove  i s  towards 

the 3rd gear  idler 

(P). 

(d) 

Using the circlip pliers 3253-T  f i t  the 

(Q). 

Moke sure 

i s  

fitted i n  the direction noted when  removed.

IMPORTANT: 

maximum movement of  the synchroniser

end of  the assembly 

the  top  opening 

georbox,  then  forward  through  the bearing  opening  into the differential 

compartment and 

in  its groove.  I t  may be necessary  to remove 

the pinion  shoft  t o  provide 

to move  the primary  shaft  down 

into the casting.  See  under headin

Fit  the double  rear bearing

and  the front bearing 

(H) 

using 

tube 30 mm 

internal  diameter,  300 mm

Place  the reverse gear  wheel  down  into the gearbox  w i t h  the  fork groove 

the differential.  Insert  the intermediate  shaft and l i n e  up  the recess i n  

the shaft  with the grub screw.  Smear  the  threads o f  the grub screw w i t h  a
