The  'Lumenition  distributor'

Before commencing  the  following  tests remove the centre EHT  lead to the distributor and 

secure i t  i n  a position

To Test  the Complete  System.

a spark  should be observed between  the EHT  lead and  the engine casting. 

2 .  

To Test  the Power  Module (and c o i l ) .  

(a) 

Uriplug ttie 3-way  connector  leading  to the distributor. 

(b) 

Coririect  the red wire i n  ttie Connector  to  the blue wire to  the power module 

using a piece o f  wire.  Brake the wire connection. 

A 

spark  should be 

produced between  ttie 

EHT 

lead and  the engine casting. 

I f  

no spark  i s  produced,  suspect  the power module. 

I f  

weak  spark 

i s  

produced  suspect  the c o i l .  

3. 

To Test  the Optical  Switch. 

NOTE: 

The optical switch must  be connected  to a good power module. 

(a) 

Connect a  voltmeter  between 

blue ond black  wires  t o  the 3-way  connector 

(b) 

Check  a  voltage of approx. 

1.8 

volts  i s  produced when the irifra-red beam 

i s  

not  interrupted. 

(c) 

When the beam 

i s  

interrupted using o piece of opaque 

the  voltage 

drops  to 

0.3
