Appendix A. Additional considerations
One-way or two-way communication with the RV50X
The RV50X can be configured for one-way communication or two-way com-
munication.
One-way communication
One-way communication is to push flux results (EddyPro results) and status inform-
ation from the instruments to FluxSuite (requires the SmartFlux System) as well as
to push raw data (raw gas, wind speed, and biomet data, EddyPro output, daily res-
ults summaries and ICOS CSV files) to a user-provided data repository that sup-
ports FTP, SFTP or HTTPS data transfer protocols. The latter requires the
SmartFlux 2 or 3 System.
Two-way communication
Two-way communication provides everything that one-way does, plus it enables
remote access to the instruments to directly check the status, upload configurations,
and to download raw data and status information from the instruments.
If you wish to send configuration files to the system, you will have two options:
l
Option 1:
Assign a
Static IP Address
and enter the required information (see
l
Option 2:
Configure the system to have a
Dynamic IP Address
and use a
Dynamic DNS service to keep track of the RV50X's IP address (see
When connected to the Internet using a RV50X, the RV50X and each networked
instrument in the system will get a unique IP (Internet protocol) address. You will
communicate with the system using the IP address of the RV50X. IP addresses are
either
static
(fixed) or
dynamic
(likely to change when the system restarts).
