Troubleshooting
Basic Troubleshooting
The switch front panel LEDs provide troubleshooting information. You can also get statistics from the Web UI,
the CLI, or from an SNMP workstation.
1.
Make sure your switch model supports the feature or function attempted; see chapter
on page
2.
Verify the install process; see chapter
3.
Verify the initial switch configuration; see Chapter
on page
4.
If you have physical access to the switch, check the port LEDs for switch information. See the
Troubleshooting LED Indications
on page
26
.
5.
Examine cables for marginal damage or failure; make sure you have the correct cable for the connection;
verify that both sides have link; verify that both devices have power; verify that the interface is not disabled
or powered off (manually shut down).
6.
Verify that duplex and speed settings are matched between two switches.
7.
Troubleshoot connected network devices to pinpoint the problem to the switch.
