Winter storage
Thoroughly clean outside and inside of the machine.
Dirt leads to the formation of moisture which causes
rusting. If a high-pressure washing device is used, do
not direct the water jet onto bearings.
Make sure all movable parts such as tension pulleys,
hinges etc. move freely. If necessary movable parts
must be removed, cleaned, checked for wear and
replaced by new ones as required.
Lubricate all hinge points.
Lubricate the machine again thoroughly after cleaning.
Grease the universal drive shaft guard tubes to prevent
them freezing.
Touch up damaged paintwork, spray bare areas with
anti-rust agent.
Clean chains with diesel fuel, allow them to dry and
grease with viscous oil.
Store the machine in a dry place. Never store the
machine near artificial fertilizers.
Jack up the machine to relieve the load on tyres, deflate
tyres, protect tyres against sun, grease and oil.
List all spare parts required and order them in good
time. It is easier for your KRONE dealer to supply and
install spare parts before the start of the season. What
is more, your machine will be ready for use before the
next season starts.
Starting-up after winter storage
Remove oil and grease which was applied in order to
preserve chains and parts.
Carry out full lubrication of machine. This removes any
condensed water which may have collected in the
bearings.
Check the pressure of the tyres.
Check the oil level in the gear unit and top up as
prescribed.
Tighten all nuts and bolts.
Be sure all machine components are correctly adjusted.
Make all necessary settings.
Spin the slip clutch in the universal drive shaft to free
the linings.
Check setting of the brake system.
Read the instruction manual again thoroughly.
