Servicing and care of the
compressed air brake system
1) Non-interchangeable hose couplings
“RESERVOIR” hose coupling (red)
“BRAKE” hose coupling (yellow)
Application:
In two-line compressed air brake systems the hose
couplings are installed to connect the reserve and brake
lines of the powered or pulling vehicle with those of the
trailed vehicle.
Servicing:
After uncoupling, close the covers or insert the hose
couplings in the dummy couplings provided, to prevent
contamination. Replace damaged sealing rings.
Check:
Check that the hose couplings engage and are sealed.
Replace defective couplings.
2) Air filter for pipes
Application:
The pipe air filter is installed in front of the brake valve. It
cleans the compressed air and thus protects the equipment
from malfunctions. The brake system remains functional
in both directions of flow even if the filter insert is blocked.
Servicing:
The filter element should be cleaned at regular
intervals, e.g. annually at start of season. The filter
element can be removed without removing the pipe air
filter from the line. Press the cover and release the
hook spring ring.
