3. Locate the splitting tabs on the oil pan and
crankcase. Insert the drive end of a 3/8" breaker
bar between the splitting tabs and rotate the
handle to break the RTV seal between the
crankcases and oil pan. See Figure 9-37.
NOTE: Pry only in the splitting tabs. Do not pry
on the gasket surfaces of the crankcase
or oil pan as this can cause leaks.

Remove Oil Pickup, Oil Pressure Relief
Valve, and Oil Pump
1. Remove the oil seal from the oil pan.
2. Remove the hex. fl ange screw, oil pickup cover
and oil pickup screen. See Figure 9-38.

3. Identify the type of oil pressure relief valve used.
If the relief valve assembly is like that shown in
Figures 9-39 and 9-40, remove the hex. fl ange
screw, retaining bracket, relief valve body, piston,
and spring. If the relief valve is like that shown in
Figure 9-41 removal is not necessary.
