end of the file. This makes the relevant counter values accessible for evaluation using other
programs. When the COUNTER.DAT file is encountered on the diskette when the user pro-
gram is started, the counts stored in the file are automatically transferred to the corresponding
counters. Thus the counts which were valid just before the computer was switched off are
automatically set.
