If you have followed so far you have won the first and perhaps most important game; now you
know how to use the menus and the system’s built-in manual.
B-1.2 Getting to know each other
You still don’t know much about the Editing system and the Editing System knows still less
about you. For instance, the Editing System has no idea how many projectors you wish to use,
to which interfaces of your computer system you have connected the projectors or how you
have set the ultraminiature toggle switches at the rear of your projectors.

There are many questions but the answers have already been filled in - these are the so-called
default values which the system assumes will be correct. The system therefore thinks that:
- 16 projectors will be used, that they are
- connected to the COM1 interface, that
- a selectable tape recorder is connected to COM2,
- an auxiliary box is hooked up to the LPT2 interface, and that
- a printer connected to the LPT1 interface
- is waiting to print at 72 lines per page.
It may occur to you that you need to correct one or more of these items. Use the cursor keys to
select the item(s) you wish to change, use the numeric keys to enter the correct number (press
DEL to delete) and then press ENTER.
