“Care” means treating the instruments with instrument oil or milk (white oil-in-water emulsion).

After each cleaning process and cooling down of the instruments,
areas such as joints, threads, etc. must be treated with suitable
care agents (med. white oil), e.g. with the LubriPen® by
Gebrüder Martin.
Due to their alloy, stainless steel instruments typically develop a passive film in the form of a protective
layer. However, this film does not protect them well against chemical attack by chloride ions and aggressive
media and liquids!
Therefore, in addition to the instrument manufacturer's endeavors to select the right materials and process
them carefully, the user must make an important contribution by ensuring proper instrument processing
along with adequate and regular care.

Sterilization
The sterilization can be performed in a sterilizer in accordance with EN 285 and validated in accordance
with ISO 17665-1.
The instruments can be sterilized in individual packagings or in container systems by Gebrüder Martin. The
containers must not be overloaded (please also observe the manufacturer's notes!).
The sterilization must be performed according to a validated procedure with steam and fractionated pre-
vacuum (e.g. sterilizer acc. to EN 285 and validated acc. to ISO 17665-1). At a temperature of 134°C
(273.2°F), an exposure time of 5 min is required. All joints and eccentric locks must be open during
sterilization (
OPEN
must be visible).
The reprocessor is responsible for achieving the desired results of the actual reprocessing process with the
equipment, material and personnel used in the reprocessing facility. This usually requires validation and
routine monitoring of the procedure. Any deviation from the provided instructions should also be checked
by the reprocessor for its effect and potential negative consequences.
Finally, we confirm that all our products leave Gebrüder Martin only after adequate quality control.
Complaints are nevertheless still possible. Please check the goods for completeness and correct function
and let us know about any complaints immediately. Please do not use rejected goods!
Repairs and return shipments of loan units are only accepted in disinfected and sterilized condition.
