Really Simple Syndication (RSS) Feeds
MediaXtreme RSS Reader is a software add-on created by Keywest Technology to allow RSS
feeds to be utilized in a media zone in the form of horizontally crawling text. RSS allows news
organizations, Web portals, bloggers, government agencies or anyone else to feed their content to
Internet subscribers as XML files. Keywest Technology’s RSS and PC Data Reader add-on can
automatically retrieve the headlines and body of RSS stories from user specified Web sites and
reformat them as digital signage news crawls. In essence, the add-on turns RSS feeds into a
specialized news wire service, providing constantly updated information, depending, of course,
upon the company or individual creating the RSS feed.
How It Works
RSS Reader works with a Keywest Technology MediaXtreme player and access to the
Internet, whether that be through the existing Local Area Network or a dedicated wired
or wireless connection.
RSS reader installed on an MX MediaZone player utilizes its internet connectivity to
retrieve one or many RSS feeds. These feeds are then automatically inserted as crawls
at the appropriate time, position, speed, size, typeface and color selected by the user in
the schedule.
The process begins within the MediaZone software on the user’s computer, which we
will refer to here as the Media Creation Station.
Under the Communication menu, RSS is selected.
