Model 2657A High Power System SourceMeter® Instrument Reference Manual
Appendix B: Calibration
2657A-901-01 Rev. B/December 2012
B-5
If the Model 2657A High Power System SourceMeter
®
instrument is not within specifications and not
under warranty, see the procedures in
(on page B-14) for information on adjusting the
instrument.
Test considerations
When performing the verification procedures:
•
Be sure to restore factory front panel defaults as outlined above.
•
Make sure that the test equipment is properly warmed up and connected to the Model 2657A
output terminals (use 4-wire sensing for voltage).
•
Make sure the Model 2657A SMU is set to the correct source range.
•
Be sure the Model 2657A SMU output is turned on before making measurements.
•
Be sure the test equipment is set up for the proper function and range.
•
Allow the Model 2657A SMU output signal to settle before making a measurement.
•
Do not connect test equipment to the Model 2657A SMU through a scanner, multiplexer, or other
switching equipment.
The maximum common-mode voltage (voltage between LO and chassis ground) is 250 V DC.
Exceeding this value may cause a breakdown in insulation, creating a shock hazard that could result
in personal injury or death.
The input/output terminals of the Model 2657A High Power System SourceMeter instrument SMU
are rated for connection to circuits rated Measurement Category I only, with transients rated less
than 1500 V peak above the maximum rated input. Do not connect the Model 2657A terminals to
CAT II, CAT III, or CAT IV circuits. Connection of the Model 2657A terminals to circuits higher than
CAT I can cause damage to the equipment or expose the operator to hazardous voltage.
Hazardous voltages may be present on all output and guard terminals. To prevent electrical shock
that could cause injury or death, never make or break connections to the Model 2657A while the
instrument is powered on. Turn off the equipment from the front panel or disconnect the main
power cord from the rear of the Model 2657A before handling cables. Putting the equipment into
standby does not guarantee that the outputs are powered off if a hardware or software fault occurs.
Setting the source range and output value
Before testing each verification point, you must properly set the source range and output value.
To set the source range and output value:
1. Press
the
SRC
key to select the appropriate source function.
2. Press the navigation wheel
to enable the edit mode (EDIT indicator on).
3. When the cursor in the source display field is flashing, set the source range to the range being
verified. Use the up or down
RANGE
keys to select the range.
4. Use the navigation wheel
and
CURSOR
keys to set the source value to the required value,
and then press the navigation wheel
to complete editing.
