8. APPENDIX
The auto controller is preset to match the product supplied with it so the user should
usually not need to enter the setup mode. The setup is provided in case there has
been a change to the original product.
8.1 Auto Controller Setup
1. Start with the controller off. Press and hold the Program select and the Ac-
quire Setpoints buttons while tuning on the power switch. Continue holding
the two buttons until the LED indicators on the front panel begin to

the four gas channels. Use the Gas Channel Select button to select each

the discharge of an end-Hall ion source in auto mode, it will learn how to
reach the operating conditions the
fi
rst time a program is used. The next

setpoint knob to select off if desired. When
fi
nished, press and release the
Operating Mode button. Note that the learn mode does not function when
operating the auto controller remotely using the remote setpoint option.

the baud rates. 0=1200, 1=2400, 2=4800, 3=9600, 4=19200, 5=38400,
6=57600, 7=115200. After selecting the desired baud rate, press and re-
lease the Operating Mode button.
4. The display should now read L16. This is the led brightness for the indica-
tor LED’s (not the display) turn the Gas Adjust knob to obtain the desired
brightness from L2 to L64. When
fi
nished, press and release the Operating
Mode button.
5. The display should alternately
fl
ash HC4 and 10. The number 10 is the mini-
mum

either the Auto Gas or Manual Gas Operating Mode. Use the gas adjust
knob to adjust the minimum
