SOLENOID
DESCRIPTION
The EGR solenoid is mounted in the left-rear of the
engine compartment (Fig. 3). The EGR solenoid
serves two different functions. One is to control vac-
uum bleed-off of the EGR valve. The other is to con-
trol the “on time” of the EGR valve.
REMOVAL
(1) Disconnect negative battery cable.
(2) Disconnect EGR solenoid electrical connector.
(3) Disconnect EGR solenoid from engine vacuum
harness (Fig. 3).
(4) Remove EGR solenoid from bracket (Fig. 3).
INSTALLATION
(1) Position and install EGR solenoid onto bracket.
(2) Connect engine vacuum harness to EGR sole-
noid.
(3) Connect EGR solenoid electrical connector.
(4) Connect negative battery cable.
