Source IP
Address A single IP address is
assigned to the interface
transmitting IP traffic. For

IPoE connection for IPv4 traf-

Two IP addresses are
assigned:
– Link-local address. this
source address is
assigned locally, and must
always go through dupli-
cate address detection
(DAD).
– Global address. This sec-
ond source address is not
used locally; it is used to
transmit traffic beyond the
router.
