How to Make the Machine Safe (Mast
Lowered)
Important:
You can complete most of the maintenance
procedures with the mast lowered. Unless a maintenance
procedure instructs you differently, you must lower the
mast.
1
Park the machine on level, solid ground.
If necessary, refer to
Stopping and Parking the
Machine
in the Operator Manual.

Lower the mast.

Put the attachment flat on the ground.
4
Stop the engine and remove the starter key.
5
Disconnect the battery to prevent accidental
operation of the engine.
6
If necessary, put chocks against the two sides of the
wheels before you get below the machine.

WARNING
Mast Support Chains
You can be killed or injured if the mast/carriage drops
while you are working under it. Install the mast
support chains before working beneath a raised mast/
carriage.

CAUTION
Stand on a serviceable working platform to fit/remove
chain(s). Do not lean a ladder against the mast - it can
slip off. Do not stretch as you could lose balance and
fall.

Installing the Mast Support Chains

Park the machine on firm level ground. Apply the park
brake.

Remove any load and attachment from the carriage.

Select the number of chains required (as shown) of 1
ton (1000 kg) minimum safe working load. Inspect the
chains to make sure they are serviceable.

Raise the carriage to give enough clearance to
complete the task. Switch OFF the engine and
remove the starter key.

WARNING
Make sure the chain(s) are secured correctly.

Fit the support chain(s) as shown.

Lower the carriage so that the support chain(s)
restrain the mast carriage.
