Operating Procedure
After you have warmed up the engine and tested the park
brake, move off as described below.
Note:
Control and switch locations are provided within this
publication.

Check your seat belt and seat.
a
Make sure that your seat belt is correctly
fastened.

Make sure that the seat is correctly adjusted.

Select 2- or 4-Wheel Drive (if fitted). Do not use 4-
wheel drive on the road or hard surfaces. It will cause
excessive tyre wear.

Press the transmission dump switch. Select a gear to
suit the conditions and the job you will be doing and
release the dump switch.
Note:
Now that you have engaged a gear, the road wheels
will be connected to the engine as soon as you move the
forward/reverse lever away from neutral.
Note:
Depending on the ground conditions and the gear
you have selected, the machine may then try to move off
before you are ready. The following procedure makes sure
you keep full control of the machine.

WARNING
You and others can be killed or injured if you operate
the forward/reverse lever while you travel. The
machine will immediately reverse direction without
warning to others. Follow the recommended
procedure for proper use of this selector.

Select Forward or Reverse and move off.

WARNING
Travelling at High Speeds
Travelling at high speeds can cause accidents. Do not
reverse in a high gear with full throttle. Always travel
at a safe speed to suit working conditions.

Check the carriage is in the travel position.

Push the brake pedal hard down.

Lift the forward/reverse lever from its detent
position and select forward or reverse.
Note:
When forward or reverse drive is selected, an
audible alarm will sound and a warning light will show to
remind you that the park brake is still engaged.

Release the park brake.

Make sure it is safe to move off, then release the
brake pedals and push down on the accelerator
pedal. The machine will move smoothly away.

WARNING
Engine/Steering Failure
If the engine or steering fails, stop the machine as
quickly as possible. Do not operate the machine until
the fault has been corrected.

While the machine is travelling slowly, check the
steering and brakes. Do not drive the machine
unless the steering and brakes are working
correctly. If you are not sure, assume they are
faulty.

To change gear when the machine is moving, press
the dump switch, select a gear and release the dump
switch.
