10.14 DECK LEVEL ADJUSTMENT ________________________________________________
When the cutting unit or caster wheels were removed for service, check the blade height. The blade height of all cutting
unit blades must be adjusted to less than 1/8 inch (0.32 mm) of the other blades.
Before you adjust the blade height, check the tire pressure of the caster wheels. All caster wheels must be adjusted to
the same pressure.
Check the height of cut before you check the blade height. All caster wheels and the gauge wheels must be set to the
same height of cut.
To level the front deck -
1.
Park the mower and cutting units on a hard, flat and level surface. Lower the cutting units to the ground. Engage
the parking brake, stop the engine and remove the ignition key.
2.
Rotate the three center blades until the blades are parallel to the mower. Rotate the winglet blades until the
blades are at a 90° angle to the mower.
3.
Measure the distance from the ground to the front of blades
(A)
. Adjust the position of the 1/8 inch (0.32 cm)
spacers until difference between the blade height is less than 1/8 inch (0.32 cm).
Move an 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) spacer from above the pivot block to below the pivot block to increase the distance
between the ground and the blade.
Move an 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) spacer from below the pivot block to above the pivot block to decrease the distance
between the ground and the blade.
4.
Measure the distance from the ground to the outside of blades

. The difference between the blade height of
outside blades
(B)
and center blades
(A)
must be less than 1/8 inch (0.32 cm). If needed, add or remove the 3/32
inch (0.24 cm) shims between the plastic plate and the support bracket of the winglets to adjust the blade height.
Store the remaining shims above the support bracket. Repeat on the other winglet.
5.
Adjust the winglet support arm until arm is against the stop bracket. Repeat on the other winglet.
To level the wing decks -
1.
Check front deck blade height before you adjust the wing decks.
2.
Rotate the wing decks blades until the blades are parallel to the mower.
3.
Measure the distance from the ground to the front of blades

. The difference between the blade height of wing
blades

and center blades
(A)
must be less than 1/8 inch (0.32 cm). Adjust the position of the 1/8 inch (0.32
cm) spacers ti adjust the blade height.
Move an 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) spacer from above the pivot block to below the pivot block to increase the distance
between the ground and the blade.
Move an 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) spacer from below the pivot block to above the pivot block to decrease the distance
between the ground and the blade.
4.
Repeat for the other wing deck.
