9.17 RADIATOR _______________________________________________________________
Check coolant level each day. The radiator must be full
and the recovery bottle must be at the cold mark.
Drain and fill the cooling system each year. Empty and
clean the recovery bottle.
Mix clean water with ethylene glycol anti-freeze for the
coldest ambient temperature. Read and follow the
instructions on the anti-freeze container and the
Engine manual.
Check and tighten the engine fan belt every 100 hours
and replace the belt every 500 hours. Replace the
clamps and hoses every two years.
Have your Jacobsen Dealer check the cooling system if
you need to add coolant more than one time a month or
you add more than a quart of coolant at a time.
Keep the radiator, engine oil cooler and hydraulic oil
cooler air passages clean. Use compressed air
(maximum of 30 psi (2 BAR)) to clean the fins. Move
the hydraulic oil cooler to the service position to clean
the radiator and oil cooler.
To move the oil cooler to the service position:
1.
Remove the knobs and the shield.
2.
Release the end cap latches. Remove the
screws from the left side and the right side caps.
3.
Move the screen out of the left side of the mower.
4.
Rotate the hydraulic oil cooler toward the left side
of the mower. The support rod must be put into
the hole in the wing arm frame.
5.
When the service of the radiator and oil cooler if complete, return the oil cooler to the operation position and
assemble the screen, shield and end caps.
WARNING
To prevent injury from the hot-engine coolant or steam, never remove the radiator cap with the engine in operation.
Stop the engine and wait until the radiator is cool. When radiator is cool, use caution to remove the radiator cap.
CAUTION
Do not put cold water into a hot radiator. Do not operate the engine without a correct coolant mixture. Install the
radiator cap correctly.
NOTICE
Do not damage the hydraulic hoses, engine oil cooler hoses or the engine controller when you rotate the hydraulic
oil cooler to the service position.
