10.4 NEUTRAL ADJUSTMENT ___________________________________________________
The neutral adjustment is set at the factory on all new mowers and
replacement pumps. Additional adjustment is not necessary unless the
pump was disassembled for repair or service. Neutral adjustment is set at
the drive pump.
To adjust Neutral position -
a
Disconnect the pedal linkage from the pump. Remove the switch
bracket from the pump.

Put the mower on jack stands. All four wheels must not touch the
ground.

Make sure the tow valve is closed.
d
Disconnect the seat switch and assemble the jumper wire to the wiring harness.

Loosen the screws that hold the lever bracket enough to allow the bracket to move.
f
Make sure the parking brake is engaged, the PTO switch is in the OFF position and the traction pedal is in the
NEUTRAL position. Start the engine.
g
Disengage the parking brake. Adjust the lever bracket until the wheels do not turn. Stop the engine and tighten
the bracket hardware to set the adjustment.

Remove the jumper wire and connect the seat switch to the wiring harness.

Lower the mower to the ground.

Connect the pedal linkage to the pump and assemble the switch bracket. Check the neutral switch and forward
switch adjustment.
k
Start the engine and check the operation of the traction pedal. When the pedal is in the NEUTRAL Position, the
wheels must not turn.
10.5 TRACTION ROD ADJUSTMENT ______________________________________________
The traction rod adjustment is done at the traction rod coupler below the floorboard.
To adjust the traction rod -
a
Make sure that the neutral adjustment is set. Rotate the mow
speed stop to the transport position.
See 6.3
b
Push the traction pedal forward until the pedal touches the
floorboard. Hold the pedal in the full forward position.

Loosen the jam nut and rotate the coupler to the left side until you
feel the pump return arm touch the inner stop. Rotate the coupler
two to three runs to the right side. Tighten the jam nut. The
traction pedal must touch the floorboard before the pump return
arm contacts the inner stop.
WARNING
Put a piece of metal in front of the neutral switch until the engine is started.
When you disengage the parking brake, the wheels will rotate. Use caution when you are near the wheels.
