Head rest
Once the patient has been restrained in the correct position in the shell with the
pelvic band, adjust the head rest. The holder for the head rest is built into the back
of the shell on the AKTIVLINE basic model. Release the clamping lever on the top
end of the support bar on the head rest to adjust the height. Adjust the inclina-
tion of the head rest cushion using the continuous angle on the head rest frame.
Tip:
There is a trick to using the clamping lever if you don‘t have enough room
to turn the lever the full
360
°. First, turn the clamping lever as far as possible
in the desired direction until it won‘t turn anymore and then pull it straight out.
This unlocks the catch mechanism on the clamping lever and you can now turn
back the lever without influencing the previously selected adjustment grade.
Observe the following instructions for the adjustment of the head rest:
1
. Standard head rests should be adjusted to fit directly behind the patient‘s head.
2
. Shell-shaped head rests usually sit lower on the head than standard head
rests. In other words, the underside of the shell-shaped headrest should
ideally sit at the base of the head placed low enough to provide support to
the neck.

Abduction pommel –
leg rest system (AFS)
In order to use the AFS, proceed
as follows:
1
. Release the spring-loaded
locking system for the AFS sys-
tem (Fig.
6
) by pressing down
on the cable system for unlock-
ing the spring-loaded locking
mechanism below the left knee.
The entire AFS system will now automatically slide underneath the seat unit
with the force of gravity, enabling the easy transfer of the patient.
2
. You can lock the AFS system back in place by gently lifting the centered oval
tubing of the leg rest until it is back in the use position.
3
. Always make sure that the spring-loaded catch mechanism is securely en-
gaged at all times.
