The program stores the time and type of the R-waves, and calculates a range of data and
statistics based on these when the recording is finished. The measured time period
corresponds to the pre-set rhythm period, but measuring can be stopped at any time by
pressing the STORE button. If the program has detected at least 40 beats before it was
aborted, the analysis is performed; however, if there were less than 40 beats, no analysis
is performed.
The arrhythmia program examines the heart rhythm and QRS width, and classifies the beats
based on them. For rhythm analysis, the program utilizes a specialized algorithm to calculate
the average R–R distance, and compare the current R–R value to it. Rhythm-based categories
are:
Normal
Post-extra
Extra
Long
QRS width is measured on 3 channels by determining the beginning and the end of the QRS
on each of them, and calculating the QRS width based on these measures. Width-based
categories are:
Normal
QRS_length < 120 ms
Wide
120 ms < QRS_length < 160 ms
Extra wide
160 ms < QRS_length
In the case of a long beat, the program does not differentiate between beats based on their
width. It will indicate that there has been a change at the stimulus source (e.g. sinus
arrhythmia or escape beat) on all 3 channels.
Possible events by categories:
Wide, extra wide rhythmic beats:
Left bundle branch block beat
LBBB
Right bundle branch block beat
RBBB
Left or right bundle branch block beat
BBB (wide)
Fusion of ventricular and normal beat
FUSION
Ventricular escape beat
VESC (extra wide)
Wide, extra wide premature beats:
Aberrant premature atrial beat
ABERR
Premature ventricular contraction
PVC (wide, extra wide)
R on T
RONT
Wide, extra wide long beats:
Left or right bundle branch block beat
BBB
Ventricular escape beat
VESC
Premature narrow beat:
Nodal/junctional/premature beat
NPC
Atrial premature contraction
APC
Premature or ectopic supraventricular beat
SVPB *
