Horizontal Expnd
This selection allows font expansion in horizontal axis and allows the control
of the bitmap to increment dot by dot. The selectable values in this menu are
from “24 pt size” to “72 pt size”, with the default value being “24 pt size”. When
the value is greater than 24, this triggers the font expansion algorithm to
increase the size of the font to the selected size. For example, if the value is
“50 pt size”, then the horizontal size of the bitmap increases from 24 dots
(default) to 50 dots. Thus we have a 50 x 24 bitmap. When the expansion
feature is enabled, all calculation of inter-char spacing is based on a 1 x 1
Times New Roman (i.e. 24 x 24) bitmap. Therefore, inter-char spacing does
not change unless we change the CPI setting.
Horizontal expansion feature only take effect under DBCS mode and not in
ASCII mode.
Note: For any value greater than “24 pt size”, we refer to as horizontal
expansion being enabled. When the value is “24 pt size”, we say that the
horizontal expansion feature has been disabled.
Vertical Expnd
This selection allows font expansion in vertical axis and allows the control of
the bitmap to increment dot by dot.
Thus we have a 24 x 50 bitmap. When the expansion
feature is enabled, all calculation of inter-line spacing is based on a 1 x 1
Times New Roman (i.e. 24 x 24) bitmap. Therefore, inter-line spacing does
not change unless we change the LPI setting.
Vertical expansion feature only take effect under DBCS mode and not in
ASCII mode.
NOTE:
For any value greater than “24 pt size”, we refer to as vertical
expansion being enabled.
When the value is “24 pt size”, we say that the vertical expansion feature has
been disabled.
