Transpector MPS Operating Manual
5.5.2.1.1 Editable Parameters
Transpector MPS has editable scan parameters that affect how data is acquired.
The editable parameters are:
Emission On/Off
. . . . . . . . . . . Turns the filament in the Transpector MPS
ion source on or off. Emission must be ON to
collect data.
EM On/Off
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Turns the EM detector (if equipped) on or off.
Turning on the EM will improve the
signal-to-noise ratio of Transpector MPS and
allow for smaller level signals to be seen
above the noise. Emission must be ON to
enable the EM to be turned on.
Min
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The starting point of the scan in AMU. For all
models, this can be as low as 0.
Max
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The ending point of the scan in AMU. The
maximum point is defined by the model:
100 AMU Transpector MPS can scan up to
100 AMU and 200 up to 200 AMU.
Dwell
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The amount of time that Transpector MPS
averages data for each collected point.
Longer dwell times will decrease noise and
increase scan time while shorter dwell times
will be noisier and decrease scan time.
ppAMU
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . This is the number of points that
Transpector MPS collects for each AMU.
1 ppAMU will generate a bar chart with a data
point at each integer AMU value. >1 ppAMU
will generate an analog scan showing peak
shapes.
Linear/Logarithmic
. . . . . . . . . . Displays the data either in a linear or
logarithmic scale. Since Transpector MPS
has such a large Dynamic Range, log scale
is often helpful for seeing low level
contaminants.
