Transpector MPS Operating Manual

EM Voltage

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . The voltage of the EM (if equipped). The

minimum voltage for the EM is 600 V. The
maximum voltage for the EM is 2000 V. The
default voltage for the EM is 800 V. Changing
this value will impact the gain of the Electron
Multiplier. This is useful only when trying to
resolve a peak from the noise floor.

voltage should be changed only by
experienced operators.

ROD POLARITY

. . . . . . . . . . . . Defines the polarity of the Quadrupole rods.

In the factory, Rod Polarity is determined for
each individual Transpector MPS to produce
optimum tune quality.

SENSOR TYPE

. . . . . . . . . . . . . Defines whether the sensor is equipped with

an EM/FC combination or an FC only
detector.

EMISSION CURRENT

the filament in the ion source. This has been
optimized in the factory for each individual
Transpector MPS to produce optimum tune
quality.

FOCUS Voltage

. . . . . . . . . . . . . Changes the voltage of the focus plates

which generate an ion beam from the ion
source. This has been optimized in the
factory for each individual Transpector MPS
to produce optimum tune quality.

FILAMENT NUMBER

. . . . . . . . . Transpector MPS has dual filaments. This

allows for switching from one filament to the
other.

MARKERS button and displayed marker—MARKERS

turns on and off the

markers. The marker consists of two components: a vertical one that
represents the highest intensity of the displayed peak and a horizontal one that
indicates 0.9 AMU width at 10% peak height.

CAL GAS button—CAL GAS

is not available for Transporter MPS

(Only used in Transpector MPH systems with HPR option).

SUBMIT button—SUBMIT

submits the changes made to Transpector MPS

tune into the Transpector MPS Non-Volatile RAM (NVRAM) in the
Transpector MPS electronics box.

SUBMIT

must be clicked to save the

changes made on the Tune window.
