Placing Variables in Messages

Placing the Date in a Message

You must be in the edit mode to place a date in a message or change the format of the date. See
Instruction A2, “Creating a Simple Message” to enter the edit mode.

While editing, position the cursor where you
want a date to appear.

Press DATE. The LCD will show the date
enclosed by braces. The braces appear
only on-screen, not in the printed message.

Position the cursor under the initial brace of
the message date. The first line of the LCD
will now show the format of the message
date in an abbreviated form.

To change the date format, use the UP and
DOWN ARROWS.
The chart below shows all the available date formats on the system with examples for July 4, 2001.
Date in Message Format Prompt Explanation
{07/04/01} MM/DD/YY Two digits each for the month / the day / the year.
{JUL} MON-ENGLISH Month in three letters abbreviated from English
{A} W/W Current week as two alphabets. Week 53 = *
{G} M Month in a single letter: Jan is A, Feb is B, and so on.
{27} WW Current week as two digits.
{185} DDD Day of the year in three digits.
{07} MM Month in two digits.
{04} DD Day of the month in two digits.
{JUL} MON Month in three letters abbreviated from selected language.
{01} YY Last two digits of the year.
{2001} YYYY Year in four digits.
{04/07/01} DD/MM/YY Two digits each for the day / the month / the year.
