Chapter 9. Using the IPSMON command-line program
(NetWare only)
This chapter provides the information about installing, starting and using the
IPSMON command-line program.
You can use the IPSMON program with Novell NetWare 4.x and 5.x only. You can
use the IPSMON program to monitor a ServeRAID controller for defunct drives,
Predictive Failure Analysis
®
(PFA) warnings, Rebuild operations, FlashCopy
operations, synchronizations, logical-drive migrations, and RAID level-5E
compressions. This program can log a message to the screen, to a file, or to both
the screen and a file whenever activities occur.
This utility program is provided on the IBM ServeRAID Support CD and the IBM
ServeRAID Command-Line Programs diskette.
Installing the IPSMON command-line program
You can install this program for NetWare using either the IBM ServeRAID Support
CD or the IBM ServeRAID Command-Line Programs diskette. To install the
IPSMON program for NetWare, do the following:
1. Start the server.
2. After the operating system starts, insert the IBM ServeRAID Support CD into the
CD-ROM drive or the IBM ServeRAID Command-Line Programs diskette into
the diskette drive.
Note: These instructions assume that you installed the following:
v
NetWare in the NWSERVER directory
v
The DOS CD-ROM device drivers.
3. Copy IPSMON to your hard disk drive by typing the following at the DOS
command prompt:
From CD
copy z :\programs\netware\cmdline\ipsmon.nlm c:\nwserver
From diskette
copy z :\netware\ipsmon.nlm c:\nwserver
where z is the drive letter for the CD-ROM drive or the diskette drive and
c:\nwserver is where NetWare is installed.
4. Press Enter. Remove the CD from the CD-ROM drive or the diskette from the
diskette drive.
Using the IPSMON command-line program
To run the IPSMON program:
1. From the console, type:
load c:\nwserver \ipsmon
where c:\nwserver is where NetWare is installed.
2. Press Enter.
