Note: Where z is the drive letter for the diskette drive that contains the IBM
ServeRAID Command-Line Programs diskette and c is the drive letter
where Windows NT, Windows 2000, or NetWare is installed.
6. Press Enter. Remove the diskette from the diskette drive.
Installing IPSSEND for Linux
You can install this program for Linux using either the IBM ServeRAID Support CD
or the IBM ServeRAID Command-Line Programs diskette.
Installing IPSSEND for Linux from CD
To install this program for Red Hat Linux 6.2 (or later) from the IBM ServeRAID
Support CD, do the following:
1. Start the server.
2. After the operating system starts, insert the IBM ServeRAID Support CD into the
CD-ROM drive.
3. If your CD-ROM drive automounts, type the following at the console and go to
step 6. Otherwise, go to step 4.
cp /mnt/cdrom/programs/linux/cmdline/ipssend /usr/bin
4. If your CD-ROM drive does not automount, mount the CD-ROM drive by typing
the following at the console:
mount -t iso9660 -o ro / dev / cd0 / mnt
Notes:
a. where /dev/cd0 is the specific device file for the CD-ROM block device. If
you have more than one CD-ROM, you must replace /dev/cd0 with the
specific name of the CD-ROM you want to use.
b. If you currently have another device mounted on /mnt, you must create a
new directory and substitute its name for /mnt in these instructions.
5. Press Enter; then, type:
cp /mnt/programs/linux/cmdline/ipssend /usr/bin
6. Press Enter; then, type:
chmod 700 /usr/bin/ipssend
7. Press Enter; then, unmount the CD-ROM by typing the following:
umount / mnt
8. Press Enter. Remove the CD from the CD-ROM drive.
Installing IPSSEND for Linux from diskette
To install this program for Red Hat Linux 6.2 (or later) from the IBM ServeRAID
Command-Line Programs diskette, do the following.
Note: You must have “SCSI Generic” support compiled into your kernel for
IPSSEND to work properly under Linux. Refer to the Linux Kernel-HOWTO
for more information on configuring and recompiling your kernel.
1. Start the server.
2. After the operating system starts, insert the IBM ServeRAID Command-Line
Programs diskette into the diskette drive.
3. Mount the diskette drive by typing the following at the console:
mount -fmsdos / dev / fd0 / mnt
