
Cabling
an
optional
SCSI
adapter
You
can
install
an
optional
SCSI
adapter
in
your
computer
to
control
the
internal
hard
disk
drives
and
provide
additional
RAID
capabilities.
With
a
SCSI
adapter
installed,
you
can
configure
the
internal
hard
disk
drives
into
disk
arrays.
You
can
also
cable
a
SCSI
adapter
to
external
hard
disk
drives.

documentation
for
complete
instructions
for
installing
a
SCSI
adapter
in
your
computer
and
for
additional
information
about
SCSI
adapters.
Notes:
1.
The
SCSI
cables
that
are
used
by
the
integrated
SCSI
controller
cannot
be
used
with
an
optional
SCSI
adapter.
2.
If
you
install
a
ServeRAID
6i+
adapter,
it
must
be
installed
in
slot
5;
no
cabling
is
required
for
this
adapter.
Complete
the
following
steps
to
cable
an
optional
SCSI
adapter:
1.
Install
the
SCSI
adapter
(see
“Installing
an
adapter”
on
page
26).
2.
Connect
the
SCSI-signal
cable
to
the
adapter
and
one
or
more
of
the
signal
cable
connectors
to
the
rear
of
the
SCSI
devices.
3.
Connect
the
SCSI-activity-indicator
cable
to
the
adapter
and
to
the
SCSI-LED
connector
on
the
system
board.
