Step 2 - During POST the stapler option tries to home.

Note: When a 990 Service Error is displayed during POST, the
failure is usually in the stapler mechanical unit or stapler card.

Turn the printer off, disconnect the
motor from J4 and check for continuity
between J4 pins 1, 2, 5, and 6 on the
cable and the motor case. If you get
continuity, replace the drive gearbox
assembly. If you do not measure
continuity, continue with this step.

Check the voltages on connector J4.

Note: All voltages are approximate
values

If the voltages are correct, replace the
mechanical drive assembly. If the voltages
are incorrect, replace the stapler card assembly.
