BIOS Recovery Beep Codes
In the case of a Bootblock update, where video is not available for text messages to be displayed,
speaker beeps are necessary to inform the user of any errors. Table 24 describes the type of error
beep codes that may occur during the Bootblock update.

Refresh timer failure
The memory refresh circuitry on the motherboard is faulty.

error
Parity cannot be reset.

Base memory failure
Base memory test failure.

System timer
System timer is not operational.

Processor failure
Processor failure detected.

Keyboard controller Gate A20 failure
The keyboard controller may be bad. The BIOS cannot
switch to protected mode.

Processor exception interrupt error
The CPU generated an exception interrupt.

Display memory read/write error
The system video adapter is either missing or its memory
is faulty. This is not a fatal error.

ROM checksum error
System BIOS ROM checksum error.

Shutdown register error
Shutdown CMOS register read/write error detected.
11
Invalid BIOS
General BIOS ROM error.
