remove
the
system
board.

1.
Turn
off
the
server
and
any
attached
devices.
Note:
When
replacing
the
system
board,
you
must
either
update
the
server
with
the
latest
firmware
or
restore
the
pre-existing
firmware
that
the
customer
provides
on
a
diskette
or
CD
image.
2.
Disconnect
power
cords
and
external
cables
from
the
back
of
the
server.
3.
Remove
the
server
from
the
rack.
4.
Remove
the
cover
(see
“Removing
the
cover
and
bezel”
on
page
27).
5.
Remove
all
adapters
(see
“Working
with
adapters”
on
page
28).
6.
Remove
all
fans
(see
“Replacing
a
fan
assembly”
on
page
45).
7.
Remove
the
air
baffle.
8.
Remove
the
riser
card
(see
“Riser
card”
on
page
61).
9.
Remove
the
screw
securing
the
PCI
adapter
shield
in
position,
and
remove
the
PCI
adapter
shield,
making
sure
to
put
them
in
a
safe
place
for
reinstallation.
10.
Remove
the
SCSI
backplane
(see
“SCSI
backplane”
on
page
60).
11.
Disconnect
all
cables
from
the
system
board.
12.
Remove
the
heat
sinks
from
all
the
microprocessors
and
set
them
aside
on
a
static-protected
surface
for
reinstallation
(see
“Installing
a
microprocessor”
on
page
39).
13.
Remove
all
microprocessors
and
set
them
aside
on
a
static-protected
surface
for
reinstallation
(see
“Installing
a
microprocessor”
on
page
39).
14.
Remove
the
memory
modules
and
set
them
aside
on
a
static-protected
surface
for
reinstallation
(see
“Installing
memory
modules”
on
page
37).
