To create a route from the system command prompt, enter the following command:
route add <Jetdirect IP Address> <system IP Address>
where
<Jetdirect IP address>
is the IP address configured on the HP Jetdirect print server, and
<system IP address>
is the IP address of the workstation's network card that is attached to the
same physical LAN as the print server.
For example, to create a route from your workstation with IP address 169.254.2.1 to a print server with
a default IP address of 192.0.0.192, try this command:
route add 192.0.0.192 169.254.2.1
CAUTION
Using Telnet to manually set an IPv4 address will override dynamic IP configuration
(such as BOOTP, DHCP, or RARP), resulting in a static configuration. In a static configuration,
the IP values are fixed and the operation of BOOTP, DHCP, RARP and other dynamic
configuration methods may no longer function.
Whenever you are manually changing an IP address, you should also reconfigure the subnet
mask and default gateway at the same time.
A Typical Telnet Session
