2. When the server responds

twice to make sure that the Telnet connection is
initialized.
3. If you are prompted for a password, type the correct password.
By default, Telnet does not require a password, but you can set
up to a 14-character password by using the password command
(passwd). Once a password is set, password protection is
enabled. You can disable password protection by typing
0
(zero)
when prompted for a new password, or by performing a cold
reset on the print server.

Any time during the Telnet session you can type:
?
then press
Enter
to view available configuration
parameters, the correct command format, and a list
of additional commands to display. To print current
configuration information, type
/
then press
Enter
.

The Present Config field in the
Telnet Configuration
menu describes how the HP Jetdirect print server
is configured. For example, if the HP Jetdirect print
server is configured by your BOOTP server, the
menu will contain the line, “present config=BOOTP.”
Other possible configuration types are RARP,
DHCP, or Telnet/Front Panel.

On Windows systems
local echo
should be
selected. To determine if
local echo
is enabled,
perform the following:

On UNIX systems, it is not necessary to select

echo
