Opening the Metering Unit
The metering unit is assembled with precision
components.
Any disturbance caused by dirt, leaks in the
vacuum system, moisture or wear will have a
negative effect on plating quality.
When performing work on the metering unit,
strict cleanliness and great care in handling any
parts of the equipment is of utmost importance.
Damaged or worn components must be
replaced.
Unscrewing the Housing Half
Loosen both star knobs and carefully remove the
grain feed cover and lay it to the side.
NOTE: For most of the work, the cables and
vacuum hoses may remain connected to the
meter housing.
Metering Unit
When reassembling, make sure that both
housing halves and the seal on the downpipe are
correctly seated. Tighten both star knobs evenly
and only hand tight.
Metering Disks
The metering disks for different seed types are
assembled on the drive shaft. Due to the notch
in the disk it cannot be assembled incorrectly.
Metering Disk
There are metering disks for each seed type.
The disks are differentiated as follows:
• Holes or Slots
• Number of Holes / Slots
• Size of Holes / Slots
The selection of disks is continually adapting and
changing. Before you start planting, you should
ask your HORSCH representative for further
assistance with metering disks.
If the metering disks are to be
changed out and used again at
a later date, each disk should
be marked with the row number
that it was removed from, so it
can be installed back into the
metering unit it came out of.
