• Furrow closing
The discs are adjusted for flat running so that the drawn furrows are closed. This
is necessary on heavy soils or under moist conditions, when the packer is unable
to close the furrows.
Depth setting
The depth setting of the levelling discs is made after the tines are set to the desired
working depth. The setting is made hydraulically.
If drilling in the furrow between the ridges is desired, the disc can be moved up to
top position.
Maintenance
Bearings are oil-filled and therefore maintenance free.
Ø
Check the bearings regularly for clearance, oil leaks and free rotation.
Notes on cleaning
Mechanical seals are very sensitive against the precipitation of water and the sub-
sequent, long downtimes.
In case of rust the mechanical seals will stick, are damaged and the bearing will no
longer be leak tight.
Ø
Do not clean bearings with high pressure cleaning equipment.
Ø
Spray the bearings with anti-seizing or corrosion protection agent.
Ø
Before restarting operation turn the bearings by hand and check for free run-
ning.
6.7 Crumbling tool
The crumbling tool is located behind the tine section and produces fine soil in front
of the packer and the coulters.
