Due to the design of the Rohloff hub a freewheel sound can be heard in

certain gears. This sound is most clearly audible in gears 5, 6 and 7.

In case of strong pedaling power or high cadence a humming noise, which

is typical for straight-toothed precision gears, can be heard in gears 1 to 7

(becoming louder).

During the first 1,000 km the Rohloff hub will be run in and the noises

during riding will become quieter and the shifting operations softer.

2.7.3.

Derailleur Gear

Different gears can be selected via the shift levers on the handlebars. If you shift

"down" to a larger gear (pinion), you can pedal more easily, but you will make slower

progress. If, on the other hand, you shift "up" to a higher gear (smaller pinion), ped

aling is more difficult, but you will make faster progress.

It is advisable to shift to a lower gear when starting off. Once you have reached a

higher driving speed, you can also drive heavier gears.

The shifting quality can deteriorate due to subsidence processes in the shift cover

and shift cable. To correct this, you can change the tension of the shift cable.
