SPECIAL NOTE
If you have the model A-3 or XK Heritage series, this section does not apply to you. The SPLIT feature is disabled for these instruments.
Also, the SPLIT feature is disabled if an XK-5 is connected to a Lower Manual such as the XLK-5 or XLK-3, or if a a MIDI keyboard is
connected and used as a Lower Manual.
u
SPLIT
When the XK-5 is played as a single-manual instrument, all the sounds and functions associated with “UPPER” will be operational
throughout the entire range of the keyboard. However, the manual can be Split so that one sound can be played on one part of the manual
and a different sound can be played on another part of the manual.
u
“UPPER” AND “LOWER” MANUALS
When the manual is “Split,” the effect is that of a conventional two-manual organ on which the Upper Manual would be played by the
right hand and the Lower Manual would be played by the left hand. Therefore, when Split is “ON,” the area to the right of the Split Point
is referred to on the XK-5 as the Upper Manual and is abbreviated, “UM.” The area to the left of the Split Point is designated as the Lower
Manual and bears the abbreviation, “LM.”
You will notice both of these abbreviations in the display. This is important to keep in mind because if you are using the XK-5 as a single-
manual instrument and you are making any changes to parameters affecting the Lower Manual, such as Drawbar Registration, you will
not hear any change unless Split is “ON.”
u
CHANGING THE SPLIT POINT
The default Split point is between “2B” and “3C.”
If you want to change the SPLIT point, do the following:
1. Press and Hold the [SPLIT] Touch Button. The display will
show the following:
2. Press the [
] Touch Button twice. The legend underneath
“SPLIT” should now blink.
3. Turn the [VALUE] Rotary Knob to change the SPLIT point.
You can select from “1C” (the lowest note on the manual) to “6C”
(the highest note on the manual).
The value shown will be the upper note limit for the “LOWER”
Manual.
