Operation
7.1 Automatically locking Automatic latchbolt
The latchbolt automatically locks the door by actuating the trigger lever once it has engaged in the
striker (providing motor-driven daytime release has not been activated).
7.2 Panic function E
The lock with mechanical panic function on the interior lever handle only features the panic function
as escape door lock. Mechanical access from outside using the key (via the latch lever, panic
function E) or the access is electrically controlled.
7.3 Manual unlocking
The lock can be unlocked manually at any time via the locking cylinder.
Although a freewheel cylinder is not required, the position of the
locking cam must be no more than 5 mm (30°) in the direction of the
faceplate with the key in the removal position. When using position-
adjustable cylinders with 45° indexing, the cylinder cam must be
brought into the opposing position.
In order to prevent access against unauthorised persons, the key
must always be removed after unlocking!
When using a knob cylinder, take care that the cylinder cam, once it
has been unlocked, is turned to its initial position!
On overview on permitted locking cylinders in combination with
BKS escape door locks is available for download on our
website www.g-u.com/service/downloads, in the product section
“Door technology”.
If the latchbolt with motor-driven operation does not reach its end position (unlocked) within 1 s,
the lock switches to overload protection. The lock stops and moves back into the initial position
(latch position or locked). The red LED (overload protection) in the lower area of the latchbolt hole
lights up briefly.
The lock makes 3 attempts to lock automatically. After the third unsuccessful attempt, the LED lights
up red permanently. The LED goes out only after successful locking.
