Twin Row to Single Row
Disable Seed Meters
Pinch Point, Crushing, and Moving Hazards
Moving parts can pinch or crush causing
serious injury or death. Keep all persons
away when making adjustments to the
planter.
Irregular Seeding Risk
Do not operate the planter without disabling
the seed meters on the locked-up row units.
If all necessary steps are not followed to
disable the seed meters, there will be
difficulties maintaining consistent meter
pressurization for precision planting
including skips and material loss.
Converting twin row planters to single row planting
operations requires the seed meters to be disabled
on the row units which have been locked up.
Begin on the left-side of the planter, and repeat
steps on each locked-up row unit:
1. Close the seed inlet gate on the seed meter, by
squeezing the tabs (1) and set he gate to the “X”
setting (2).
2. Clean out the seed meter. See “
3. Install a blank seed disk. See “
4. Close the valve (3) on the Y-tube for the branch to
the locked-up row unit by rotating the valve cap
until the handle is perpendicular to the tube.
5. Reset your seed monitoring system console to
reflect new active row pattern to avoid nuisance
alarms. See console operator manual for more
information.
Gauge Wheel Offset
Crushing Hazard
Do not stand or place any body part under
any part of the planter. You may be severely
injured or killed by being crushed.
To aide in future twin-to-single row conversions,
you may consider marking the frame as you
work with a marker for future reference.
To offset the frame to maintain center-of-bed
alignment will be achieved by shifting the gauge
wheels by 3 to 4 inches (7.6 to 10.2 cm) on the frame.
The gauge wheel offset distance is determined by
your planter configuration. See table below.
To successfully complete the gauge wheel
offset it will be necessary to carefully guide
the main driving sprocket assembly on the
drive shaft as you shift the gauge wheel into
place on the toolbar.
1. Lower the planter but do not allow the wheels to
make contact with the ground.
2. Stop tractor engine, set parking brake, and
remove key.
