Adjustments

This section covers adjustments and settings necessary
for  the  best  field  performance  and  results.  Even  if
planting conditions rarely change, some items need
periodic  adjustment  due  to  normal  wear.  Always
make adjustments with safety in mind. 

Planting Rate for Ground Drive

Always  check  recommended  planting  rate  in  the
Material  Rate  manual  before  beginning  planting
operation.  The  seed  rate  charts  will  include  the
suggested starting sprocket settings. There are four
ground drive systems on the planter and each drive
needs to be set identically. 
There  are  three  adjustments  necessary  to  set  the
planting rate for ground drive planters:

Range sprockets

Transmission sprockets

Upper drive sprockets

Range Sprockets

Select the correct range sprockets for your seed by
referring to the Material Rate manual.
To change range sprockets:
1. Loosen idler (3) and remove chain (4).

2. Remove retaining pins (5) from shafts and install

range sprockets as necessary. 

3. Reroute  chain  over  sprockets  and  idlers  as

shown. 

4. Move  idler  into  chain  so  chain  has  1/4  inch  (6

mm) slack in its longest span. Tighten idler and
install lynch pins.

Ensure  the  correct  sprockets  have  been
installed  in  the  DRIVING  and  DRIVEN
locations. 

Transmission Sprockets

Select  the  correct  transmission  sprockets  combination
for your seed by referring to “

Seed Rate Charts

” in

the Material Rate manual.
1. Loosen idler (4) and remove drive chain (5).

2. Remove  retaining  pins  (6)  from  shafts  and

rearrange  driving  and  driven  sprockets  as
necessary. 

3. Reroute drive chain over sprockets and idlers as

shown. 

4. Move idler into chain so chain has 1/4 inch slack

in its longest span. Tighten idler and install lynch
pins.

Ensure  the  correct  sprockets  have  been
installed  in  the  DRIVING  and  DRIVEN
locations. 

Upper Drive Sprockets

Select the correct upper drive sprockets combination for
your seed by referring to “

Seed Rate Charts

” in the

Material Rate manual.
