Fit the cover and leave it in place until the glue has cured.
When the adhesive has set hard, withdraw the extension lead slightly, and solder it to
the servo lead, once again taking great care to
maintain correct polarity
. Insulate
each soldered joint with a heat-shrink sleeve.
Mount the swivel pushrod connector on the servo output arm using a hole 8 mm from
centre; you will need to bore out the hole using a 2 mm Ø bit. When the connector is
in place, it should rotate smoothly, but without perceptible slop.
The servo can now be installed in the Servo-Lock.
Slip the pushrod through the cross-hole in the swivel pushrod connector and tighten
the grubscrew to secure it. The grubscrew must be secured with a drop of UHU
thread-lock fluid to prevent it working loose.
Check that the servo and the airbrake are at the ‘retracted’ end-point before
tightening the grubscrew.
Set the servo to the end-point by connecting the system and switching the transmitter
on briefly, with the trims centred.
The servo well cover can now be secured using the countersunk self-tapping screws
supplied.
The servo leads previously cut off can now be soldered to the end of the extension
lead at the wing root, again taking care over polarity. Insulate the soldered joints with
heat-shrink sleeves.
File out suitable openings at the marked points in the fuselage root fairings for the
servo leads and incidence pegs.
The outboard ailerons can either be actuated by a separate pair of servos, or linked
mechanically to the inboard ailerons. If you prefer the latter solution, a 0.8 mm Ø
steel pin has to be pushed into the two ailerons following the dimensions stated in the
photograph.
The first step is to push the steel pin into the inboard aileron to the point where it can
be pushed into the outboard aileron at full down-travel. Repeat the whole procedure
with the second wing panel.
Installing the incidence pegs
It is important to check the angle of incidence of both wings when gluing the
incidence pegs in the root ribs; the value
must
be identical on both sides; the correct
longitudinal dihedral is stated in the Specification. Note that the incidence pegs
should project out of the root ribs by about 15 mm.
Installing the wing retainer system
Locate the 5 mm Ø hole in each wing root, apply glue to the hole and screw the plug-
in pegs in the root ribs.
