Ports Configuration
1. For a first time configuration, disable the ports to be configured by typing the following
command. If the port is already connected and passing data refer to the
paragraphs at the end of this chapter.
configure ports disable port
[n]
or
all
2. At the local SC-SDT device, configure an IP address by typing:
configure mgt ip-address
[IP address] [mask]
For example:
configure mgt ip-address 192.200.12.6 255.255.0.0
3. At the local SC-SDT device, configure a default IP route by typing:
configure mgt default-route
[IP route]
For example:
configure mgt default-route 192.200.0.1
4. Perform
and
at the remote SC-SDT device.
5. Ping each SC-SDT device to verify IP connectivity.
6. Cable up the both SC-SDT devices using the appropriate “smart” serial interface cable for
your application. When the “smart” serial cable selected for your network application is
attached to a port, it will “inform” the SC-SDT whether it should operate as a DTE or a DCE.
If you are using a “smart” DTE cable, skip to
If you are using a “smart” DCE cable, the configure the clock parameters described in
step 7.
and
.
7. If desired, set the transmit clock invert phase for each sync port by typing the following
command. Note that this parameter can be changed later without interrupting communication
or management on the link:
configure ports clk-invert port
[#] or
all
[normal or invert]
For example:
configure ports clk-invert all normal
8. Set the clock speed parameters for each sync port by typing:
configure ports clk-speed port
[#] or
all
[clock rate 56 or 64] [clock multiplier
1...32]
For example, to set clock speed on all ports to 56K X 1, type:
configure ports clk-speed all 56 1.
