8-4-4 Alphanumeric Keyboard Replacement Procedure

NOTE: When performing the next step, for ribbon cable connectors place a flat screwdriver into the gap
beneath the connector, as shown in the example in
Figure 8-86 .
5.) Disconnect the six cables, as indicated in Figure 8-85 .
6.) Loosen and remove the eight star-shape screws that fasten the Alphanumeric Keyboard in position,
as indicated in Figure 8-85 .
7.) Remove the Alphanumeric Keyboard from the Keyboard Assembly.
8-4-4-4 Alphanumeric Keyboard Installation Procedure
1.) Carefully place the new Alphanumeric Keyboard in the keyboard assembly (refer to
Figure 8-85 on page 8-69 ). Make sure it is correctly positioned.
2.) Return and fasten the eight star-shape screws (previously removed) to secure the Alphanumeric
Keyboard firmly in position, as indicated in Figure 8-85 .
3.) Carefully re-connect the six cables, as indicated in Figure 8-85 .
4.) Fasten the two GND cables (see Figure 8-85 ).
5.) Re-fit the Keyboard Bottom Cover, as described in the “Keyboard Bottom Cover Installation
Procedure” on page 8-60 .
6.) Install the Keyboard Assembly on the system, as described in the “Keyboard Assembly Installation
Procedure” on page 8-42 .
7.) Proceed to perform the following functionality tests:
- “Alphanumeric Keyboard Test” on page 4-18
- “Extended Keyboard and Trackball Test” on page 4-18
- “Speakers Tests” on page 4-21
- “Light Detector Test for Vivid S6 N only” on page 4-22
- “USB Test” on page 4-37
- “Grounding Continuity” on page 10-23
- “Chassis Current Leakage Test” on page 10-24
