Each of the two GigE ports is also configurable to:
- 100 Mbit/sec
- 200 Mbit/sec
- 400 Mbit/sec
- 800 Mbit/sec
The user can define up to 3 rate limit values per port and respective sets of
criteria (rules) that specify the frames to which the rate limit will be applied. Each
set of criteria includes the user-selected frame type(s) (unicast, multicast,
broadcast) and input frame priorities. The frames that do not meet any of the
configured (up to three) sets of criteria are not rate limited.
Dynamics:
The frames ingress until the total number of bytes ha
s exceeded a “limit”,
subsequent frames are then discarded to meet the desired bit-rate and then
the cycle repeats.
For bit-
rates up to and including 8 Mbit/sec, the “limit” is about 1600 bytes.
For bit-
rates above 8 Mbit/sec, the “limit” is about 12,400 bytes.

Protection Switching
This is the time during which Ethernet frames may be lost, subsequent to a fiber
failure in a ring-configured JungleMUX network.
Typically about 1ms (initial tests) on a ring with 3 nodes. More information will be
provided later.
