Probable Cause / Solution
All LEDs off
No (enough) power on the shelf. Check power supply.
L or R red LED
steady on
- Ensure that the JMUX units are not in alarm.
- Verify that Add and Drop configuration is correct per the Node
Assignment Drawing.
-
Verify that ETHER-1000 unit Line ports are physically connected
to proper CBW/SPE ports on the JMUX units using proper cables
as per Table 3.
-
Verify that the settings in the Line Setup tab are correct.
-
Verify that the CBW port configuration on the JMUX unit matches
that of the ETHER-1000 Line port and that proper STS-1s have
been assigned to the proper slot(s) on the CBW port.
-
Ensure that the STS-1s allocated to each specific TDM pipe are
dropped only at nodes where they need to be accessed by
ETHER-1000 or ETHER-100 units. These STS-1 must be
configured as "bulk STS-1s" at all nodes through which the TDM
pipe is routed.
- Check the alarm reported in the Status field in the VistaNET Main Tab
and do the following:
- "Path AIS", "High BER"
– Check all hops on STS-1 SPE path;
-
"Mismatch"
– Go to the Line Monitor tab and, for each TDM pipe
and each of its SPE paths, verify that:
-
the far-end unit is an ETHER-1000 or ETHER-100 unit;
-
the far-end of the SPE path is assigned to the same TDM
pipe (n/a if the far end unit is ETHER-100).
-
the far-end unit is set for the same number of slots;
-
the order of SPEs received has not been changed with
respect to their order at the far end.
-
the far-end ETHER-1000 unit is running the same firmware
version (Mismatch alarm is reported on Version 3 units
connected to remote Version 1 units and vice versa).
- Ensure that the SPE path is correct. Use POH Byte H4 to verify SPE
end-to-end path integrity.
L or R yellow LED
steady on
- Indicates that the respective far-end ETHER-1000 unit is receiving an
abnormal SPE signal. The respective far-end unit's Line port red LED
is steady on.
L or R yellow and
red LEDs flashing
- Indicates loss of CBW port clock from the respective JMUX unit. Check
the Line port cabling. Check that the JMUX unit is configured for the
same mode of operation as the ETHER-1000 unit (per NAD).
All line port LEDs
off (one or both
rows)
- All four TDM pipes on the Line port are unprovisioned or no STS-1s
have been assigned to any of the provisioned TDM pipes. Check the
settings in the Line Setup Tab. Press the ACK button to ensure the unit
is powered (this should light all face-plate LEDs).
