Section 9
The TURBOTEST 500B is optionally equipped to allow voice communication between operators while
testing other fibers in a bundle. Designed for use on spare single-mode fibers, the instrument allows
quick connection to terminated connectors. The voice communication feature is useful where other
types of communication are not available.
Talk Setup
Use the following procedures on both TURBOTEST 500B units to setup a communication link on a
common spare fiber.
1 From the [MAIN MENU] screen, use either [UP] and [DOWN] arrow key to highlight the [TALK SET]
option.
2 Press the [SELECT] soft key to enable the [TALK] mode.
3 Attach one end of a jumper cable to the Voice Port and the other to the spare fiber.
4 Attach the headset plug to the Headset Port, then put the headset on and adjust to fit.
5 Press the [START] soft key to begin.
6 The units will attempt to establish a link. Once completed, the units will ring.
