Performing a Link Test
One TURBOTEST 500B unit must be operating in the [OLTS] test mode while another - in the [REMOTE]
test mode. For this setup procedure the two units will be differentiated by T500B unit A-MAIN and
T500B unit Z-REMOTE.
Refer to Figure 6-4 for a related illustration.
1 Attach the APC connector on the reference cable to the Test Port.
2 Attach the UPC connector on the reference cable to the link under test.
3 From the [TEST] screen, press the [
λ]
soft key on the MAIN unit to select the desired wavelength
(refer to Section titled “Selecting Test Wavelength”, page 23).
4 When the desired wavelengths are selected, press the [Back] key to return to the
[TEST] screen.
5 When the [READY] label is displayed, press the [START] soft key on the MAIN unit to begin
testing.
The T500B unit A-MAIN attempts to establish a data link with the T500B unit Z-REMOTE. Once
linked, the units exchange reference information, and then measure the following:
• insertion loss from T500B unit A to unit Z
• insertion loss from T500B unit Z to unit A
6 At the completion of the test, the TURBOTEST 500B will prompt you to [REVIEW] or [SAVE] test
results.
