MUTUAL Referencing
Refer to Figure 6-3 for a related illustration.
1 On entry to the [OLTS REFERENCE] screen, the [INSERTION LOSS] screen is highlighted by default.
Press the [SELECT] soft key to access the [INSERTION LOSS REFERENCE] sub-screen.
2 Using either [UP] or [DOWN] arrow key highlight the [MUTUAL] option.
3 Press the [SELECT] soft key to access the [CONNECT TEST PORT TO UNIT Z] screen.
4 Attach the APC connector on one reference cable to the Test Port (unit A - MAIN).
5 Attach the APC connector on another reference cable to the Test Port (unit Z - REMOTE).
6 Mate free ends (UPC connectors) of test cables using the appropriate adapter.
7 Press the [
λ]
to select the desired wavelength to be referenced (refer to Section titled “Selecting
Test Wavelength”, page 23).
8 When the desired wavelengths are selected, press the [Back] key to return to the [CONNECT TEST
PORT TO UNIT Z] screen.
9 From the [CONNECT TEST PORT TO UNIT Z] screen, press the [START] soft key on the MAIN unit
to begin referencing. If prompted to confirm re-referencing, choose [YES].
10 When both units display [READY], press the [START] soft key on the MAIN unit.
11 When the MAIN unit displays [REFERENCE SET], press the [BACK] key several times to return to
the [OLTS] test screen.
